When designing Linkable Binder Clips the Robo Clip was the first arm designed. The Robots square head was an important part of the design. We wanted the Hook Arms to be able to attach to both the top of the Robot head and the sides of the Robot head. This gives more points for the Hook Arms to connect to the Robo Clip. Note: the Hook Arms are also able to be connected to the Robot Arms and other Hook Arms.
The Robo Clip arms were originally designed to be horizontal to the clip. While manufacturing a prototype the Robot’s shoulders were not able to be bent horizontal to the clip. So the new design became a Robot with its shoulders slightly raised up forming a V shape.
Then the Robo Clip illustration was modeled after the wire prototype arms.
